For a few nights I would try to plug my earphones in to the stereo and listen to Dream Alive in the dark, scribbling my thoughts on the song because I feel the dark helps me hear better. But most of the time I'd fall asleep after Sirius. :P So anyway, finally getting down to it..my Dream Alive review..so far (:
01 Theme
Not any particular feelings for it but I find it a good opening, sounding very fantasy-like. Fantasy, dreams...yeah I get it. Oh hahaha you know how after 42 seconds, the beat changes..yeah well, I thought it was another song! xDD I was picturing how they could use it as an interlude song between costume-changes, what sort of props they could have..
02 Move Your Body
Great dance song! It's not something I'll fall in love with immediately, but it has an addictive tune. Especially che-che-che-che-check! and da-da-da-da-dance!
03 Happiness: (:
04 Niji no Kanata e
Okay you know how Oh Yeah was the song that I really love from Time? I think this song is the song from Dream Alive. It's absolutely poppish and it makes me feel happy. Like I'm in a good place. This may sound really weird, but I imagine rainbows and green fields and...wildflowers..fluffy clouds when I listen to this song. Gosh I don't even know what it means yet! xP
05 Do My Best
Infectious beat! It gave this fresh feeling when it was just Ohchan singing at the start <3
06 Sirius
Nino's voice at the beginning..*melts* I have to say that I think Jun's control over his voice is improving. And I'm not just saying this because of the solo solo he did in this song, but generally in the album. I love it when he goes lower. I must say that I was surprised with the choice of Jun singing the solo. Oh and there was this one bit where Ohchan was singing "Whoa~ whoa~"..oh gosh his voice is so amazing.
07 Flashback
Hahaha okay this is funny. I feel this song seems like something they would have done in 2004. I don't know why. Maybe it's just something in the song, or the tune, the style... Haha geddit? Flashback! xD I like the rap and the jazzy feel to the song.
08 Dive into The Future
Hahaha so much english lyrics. But I think Move Your Body has quite a bit too. You know when Nino sang "Soulmate"? I thought he sang "Sorry"..LOL! But Ohchan's "Give me more!" is awesome <3333
09 Koe
I thought the start of the song reminded me of BSB's What Makes You Different. Very sweet. Aibachan's voice is so yasashii <3 I really like this ballad. But my only problem is the "beat" in the background when they sing. It makes me think of Sirius and I just don't want them to sound similar.
10 My Answer
I like! At first I didn't, but this keep getting stuck in my head. "Tsutaeyou!" and "Body & Soul!". "Body & Soul" doesn't even sound english to me LOL. I like the pace I guess. Both the verses when they sing fast and also the chorus.
11 Life Goes On
I'm going to have to say I'm just okay with this one. Originally I thought it sounded very normal and I'd have a difficult time remembering it. But the chorus..Ohchan and Jun and Nino..the high voices..and "kyou mo life goes on.." proved my first judgement wrong.
12 Step and Go: rolling rolling on
13 YOUR SONG
Lalala lala la lalala lala la...I think the starting bit till the point where they sing "YOUR SONG" sounds kinda disjointed from the rest a lil..but I like the lalalas :D
*Oh no I haven't heard the bonus track from the normal edition. -hangs head in shame-
01 Hello Goodbye
This was the solo that stole my attention right away. I love it. I get teary sometimes thinking about Otsuka-san. I get teary thinking about how Aibachan will sing this with all his being. I don't know why but I really really like this solo. It's so pure Aiba. I think it's my fav solo so far among the 5. And probably second to Itsuka no Summer.
02 Gimmick Game
I'm trying to get use to it... a bit sexy, hip hop and cool. But I like! <3 Only right...now I do get confused sometimes whether I'm listening to Ohchan or Nino singing. Because the genre's what Ohchan did a lot in the past solos.
03 Take Me Faraway
I can't seem to put this song between a ballad or some sort of dance. Beautiful voice, nevertheless <3
04 Naked
Why do I like this boy...he just completely throws me off the tracks a lot of the time. It's again new and different and more mature sounding. Did Jun help in writing the lyrics of this song? (Also I think he mentioned something about considering something acoustic for a solo? Please do next time, okay?! I want acoustic!!)
05 Hip Pop Boogie
I felt..not enough Sho raps in the album. I don't know if it's because I wasn't paying enough attention. But I felt so anyway. xP So this is a good dose of Sho xDDD But really what gets me is: MY LIFE IS MY MESSAGE. Enough said ^^
Okay I didn't have much to say about the solos because I spun the album cd more than the solo cd. I just need to listen to more of it.
Album-wise, they seem to have more mid-tempo songs this time. Current favourites will have to be Niji no Kanata e, Sirius, Koe, maybe Do My Best and maybe Flashback. Cause I really am satisfied with the ballads. It will be interesting to see what they'll do this spring. I'm curious to see what sort of theme and how they'll incorporate the mid-tempos in.
My stereo ate my first disc. I swear - it hasn't been out since I've put it in on Monday. :P I spent my entire day listening to it while I studied and I'm thinking that it is quite a good album to listen to while studying.
Though I must admit that when I first heard the album, it took me by surprise in a weird way. I would decide that the mood of the song was too slow for my liking, but then all of the sudden the tune would change and make me like it. I started liking the album in bits and pieces. It wasn't even on a gradual song-by-song way. It was more like a part-of-a-song thing. I'd like a part of every song, and so I would keep listening to the whole album catch my favourite bit of the tune or phrase in each song. FInally I ended up liking the whole album.
What I really like about this album is the fact that I don't get tired of it. Then again, maybe it's because it's new.. However, I can't help but compare the albums. I can't pick my favourite album still. I get stuck between Iza Now, One, Arashic, and possibly Time. They each have something different I like about them.
Iza Now scores really well with me because it has so many of my favourite songs in there. The rest of the songs are a bit slow, but I like them.
One is great because it has all these tension-up songs. I still feel that if I want to recommend Arashi's music to anyone, I'd recommend this album. Funnily, the songs that didn't appeal to me were oh-chan's, sho's and jun's solo. I don't know about now, once again..since all I have been listening to is Time. XP
Arashic has amazing ballads and pick-up songs and genki songs. And it comes with 5 songs from the One concert which is possibly my favourite concert so far from the clip provided.
Time...I don't know how to describe it. It has Taiyou no Sekai! :D At first when I heard this song, I thought it sounded so much like Lucky Man. I was about to skip to the next song, but then I fell in love with the chorus. It's extremely addictive. I really like the whole song now. And then there's LIFE. I took long to realise the last solo part was Nino's. I like the tune a lot. This is the sort of song which didn't stand out at first but now I love it. Oh and Rock You which I started out not liking because of the radiorip, but somehow it sounds different on the album and I really love it. I like the arrangement, very bouncy and genki, also the piano. The members all sound good in their solo parts. Again I took a few plays to realise the last solo bit was by Nino! Gosh it's so beautiful..
Okay. This is probably one of many ramblings on the album :)
